| Short cycle welding |
Short cycle welding (SC)Using this method, studs (Ø 3 to 12 mm) can be welded onto thin sheets. Short cycle welding only has a short, flat weld penetration. The maximum weld time is 100 ms. Thanks to the high levels of process reliability, many stud types (threaded studs, coarse threaded studs, collar studs (large flange studs / earth studs), T-pins) are welded in automotive manufacture using the short cycle welding procedure (without weld pool protection). PS short cycle welding studs are manufactured according to DIN EN ISO 13918: 2008, and have a 7° top pitch on the stud flange and a flange diameter 1 mm larger than the nominal diameter. However, our experiences in practice have also shown that PT capacitor discharge welding studs can also be used. These studs have a top pitch of 3° on the stud flange and an ignition tip. The arc length is increased sufficiently thanks to the ignition tip length. |
