Friction welding studsFriction welding is a simple procedure that has been used in a variety of applications for over 30 years. It is a pressure welding method which is used for the fully-mechanised welding of parts, and is particularly suited to automated applications. Due to welding temperatures below the melting point, the short weld time and joining under pressure, friction welding also offers the possibility of joining high-quality materials and material combinations that would otherwise not be possible when using fusion welding. There are many potential areas of application due to the possibility of joining a range of different materials, including casted and sintered materials, ceramic and metal, mixed joins or intermetallic compounds.
